After you open your shower, it takes some time before warm water starts flowing. You wait or do something else, then you put your hand under the shower and feel that the water is warm. The idea for founding AquaTelligent was back in 2017. Laurent the founder of Sparcio, a company that wants to make every drop count by developing and selling water saving add-ons for showers and faucets, was investigating how he could show his customers their actual cold and warm water savings instead of only the calculated savings. After searching the market for possible solutions, it was clear that nothing of the sort existed. AquaBuddy is designed to fit all showers in the world. Although there are two standards of threading BSP and NPT, the AquaBuddy fits both 1/2 inch systems.

We think it’s pretty cool that we can help people and organisations save a lot of water, energy and hard-earned money with the AquaTelligent, especially when it’s so simple, but there is a lot more to it. Water scarcity, increasing water prices, energy poverty, carbon emissions from heating water are both local and global concerns.

Climatic changes make these situations more severe. We already see increasingly strong droughts all over the world, not least in California and Australia. Or the European heatwave in 2018. Water stress can lead to devastating catastrophes, forest fires, water shortages, crop failure and even death of humans and animals alike.

Governments are forced to restrict water consumption by the public increasingly. Examples just in 2018 came from the US, Australia, South Africa, Europe and Asia. Homeowners were advised to use water only when necessary during the summer. California has even introduced a law that will go into effect 2022 and will limit water consumption to approximately 220 litres per person per day.
AquaTelligent is not the panacea to all these problems, but it can contribute a little bit to an eco-friendlier and more sustainable household. Europe alone has more than 200 million households. So, using AquaTelligent in such a scale would make a huge impact.
